MISSION
American Pathways University provides a program of undergraduate (A.A. and B.A.) higher education that is accessible, affordable, and facilitates immediate and long-term changes in thinking (cognitive), doing (effective), and being (affective and imperative) as cornerstones for successful lives, financial self-reliance, and leadership for functional communities.

PURPOSES AND OBJECTIVES

Educational Purposes: Thinking, Doing, Being

Thinking: Knowledge acquisition, cultural literacy, and critical thinking skills.
Doing: Responsible leadership in the community and personal success skills.
Being: Personal growth, responsibility, character, confidence, and personal skills.

Life-Long Learning Objective
The University’s mission is to serve students ages 18 to 65 and older by providing a successful educational experience.
Authorization and Accreditation Objective
The University is authorized by the State of Colorado to offer courses for credit and award college degrees, and is pursuing regional accreditation.
Community Service and Leadership Objective
The University serves as a nexus where the inner city and society at large can meet for mutually beneficial endeavors, including the sharing of culture, values, solutions, and resources.
Accessibility Objective
Access is achieved by programs and courses that are open to all students regardless of prior academic success and by individual education plans. Supplemental educational support and services, such as GED preparation, ESL, remedial, and tutorial programs, are available.
Affordability Objective
The University provides an affordable education through a scholarship program that covers up to 80% of tuition for urban students.

University Values
The core values of American Pathways University are embodied in The Apostles Creed, Christian liberal arts education, the American experience, and democratic institutions.

UNIVERSITY ETHICS
Personal character and personal and social ethics are essential to the American Pathways University ideal. Participation in an academic community carries responsibilities as well as privileges. Registration for classes is regarded as an agreement by the student to abide by university standards while on campus, in campus housing, and in the classroom as outlined in the Student Handbook.

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Academic Programs
American Pathways University offers academic programs for Associate of Arts (A.A.) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degrees with majors and concentrations in business, human services, leadership, and theology and undergraduate certificate programs. Students have the opportunity to participate in study abroad programs.
College Preparation Programs
The University offers programs designed to prepare students for a successful college career. These programs include adult literacy, GED (High School equivalency certificate), and ESL (English as a second language).
Graduate Study Advising
American Pathways University does not offer graduate studies or award graduate degrees. APU does facilitate, through academic advising and articulated arrangements, the entry of qualified students into graduate studies provided by other institutions.
